An enormous panorama dating from October 1931 in the museum of the factory shows the situation of Kuznetsk at the time: numerous settlements of barracks and MayÕs quarter under construction. The first quarter of the city is built according to MayÕs design.

The owner Ñ the factory Ñ had enough money to restore the buildings, put an extra floor on many of the apartment blocks and changed the interiors. But still the apartment blocks of this quarter, with its first streets the Prospect Enthusiastov and Ulitsa Chitarova, look very much like they do on the photographs of 1932, the year they were finished.
